Financial Risk in Insurance by Guiseppe Ottaviani,

Financial Risk in Insurance by Guiseppe Ottaviani,
This book, published with the contribution of the Italian insurance company INA, contains the invited contributions presented at the 3rd International AFIR Colloquium, held in Rome in 1993. The colloquium was aimed at encouraging research on the theoretical bases of actuarial sciences, its interaction with the theory of finance and of corporate finance, together with mathematical methods, such as probability and the theory of stochastic processes. In the spirit of actuarial tradition, attention was given to the link between the theoretical approach and the operative problems of financial markets and institutions, and insurance companies in particular. The book is an important reference work for students and researchers of actuarial sciences and finance. It could also be recommended to practitioners with theoretical interests.

Comparison Methods for Stochastic Models and Risks by Alfred Mueller,
Comparison Methods for Stochastic Models and Risks by Alfred Mueller,
Stochastic orders are important approximation tools that provide valuable insight into the behaviour of complex stochastic models. Research into stochastic orders is blossoming, with many open problems being studied and a wide range of applications explored. In this book the authors explore the most important concepts of the field, from the basic univariate theory through to the most current applications. Comprehensive coverage of the theory and applications of stochastic orders. Employs a systematic approach with detailed explanation of each concept. Features coverage of univariate and multivariate stochastic orders. Covers a range of applications, from queueing theory, reliability theory, statistical physics, actuarial and financial risk, and economics. Written by authors with many years experience in researching stochastic orders.Researchers and graduate students studying stochastic orders will find the comprehensive coverage of the subject ideal for their needs. The range of applications will benefit those working in applied probability and statistics, reliability, actuarial science, economics and finance.

Actuarial science - Actuarial science applies mathematical and statistical methods to finance and insurance, particularly to the assessment of risk. Actuaries are professionals who are qualified in this field.

Student Pugwash USA - Student Pugwash USA (SPUSA) is a student organization, based in the United States, that aims to promote the socially responsible application of science and technology. The student members discuss the ethical, social and global implications of advances in these fields and explore the pursuit of socially responsible careers involving science and technology.

International Student/Young Pugwash - International Student/Young Pugwash (ISYP) is an international organization that promotes awareness and action among students and young professionals in relation to ethical implications of science and technology policy, particularly matters of international security and weapons of mass destruction. It developed from the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs.

Creation science fair - A creation science fair is a gathering (modelled on an actual science fair that seeks to foster understanding of science) that instead seeks to foster religious doctrine with projects that may or may not be scientific. Creation science fairs are held across North America, and provide a venue for student projects that are religious in nature.
